University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) has selected San Francisco-based, healthcare specialists Mazzetti and global consulting and engineering firm Arup as the lead MEP engineers of record for its new hospital, UCSF Helen Diller Medical Center at Parnassus Heights (Parnassus Heights).  Collaborating with architect partners HDR (Architect of Record) and Herzog & de Meuron (Lead Designer) to design the “hospital for the future”, Mazzetti and Arup will integrate forward-looking, innovative design, supporting UCSF’s commitment to world-renowned clinical research and training.

Keisha Thomas is a Senior Electrical Designer in our Portland office. With a PhD in Electrical Engineering and many years of industry and academic experience, she came to Mazzetti over two years ago and has since become an indispensable part of our team and project delivery.

Mazzetti welcomes Senior Electrical Engineer, Jeremy Galvin, PE, and Senior Mechanical Engineer, Joshua Fait, PE, joining our Seattle/Portland team, to collaborate on projects throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Women at Mazzetti Spotlight: Chiaowei Yu - Chiaowei is the Director of the VDC (Virtual Design Construction) department at Mazzetti and based in our San Francisco office. With over 6 years of industry experience and a high level of expertise in building information modelling (BIM) software, Chiaowei is an indispensable figure at Mazzetti.

Hannah is a Business Development Manager in Mazzetti’s San Francisco office, a role that she has been advancing for the past four years.

The demand for in-house specialty pharmacies in large healthcare facilities is on the rise. Health systems are realizing (more) the benefits these pharmacies offer to their employees and patients. As these pharmacies are expected to facilitate seamless clinical support and education, provide external distribution (which inherently brings challenges), and offer integrated technology, conventional design is facing an evolution. With this evolution, we see opportunity for improving employee workflow and increasing the quality of patient care.

We can and we must continue to perfect the independence from human hate and oppression, including the intertwined independence from fossil fuels and environmental degradation.

Disha believes that closing the gender gap in the AEC industry starts with, “having more women in higher leadership roles and giving women the opportunity and tools to succeed within the company. Women role models and mentors will give hope and confidence to the next generation of women leaders.”
