Meet Janelle Drouet, Mazzetti’s new Senior Lighting Designer. For more than 20 years, Janelle has contributed to the success of a broad spectrum of lighting design projects of varying sizes and complexities including LEED, WELL, daylighting, heritage, fast track, and design-build projects. Regardless of scope or project type, she firmly believes that good lighting design, access to daylighting and/or shading, is a basic human right and it should be equitable for all. Janelle joins Mazzetti as a Senior Associate, based in San Francisco, CA.

Approximately 11% of babies worldwide are born premature. Most babies born at 32 weeks of pregnancy have only a few temporary health issues that require a stay in the NICU for  a few days to a few weeks. At 32 weeks, babies still have a couple months to go before reaching their full birth weight, but they’re well developed.

This month, the Women@Mazzetti committee is putting the spotlight on Anjali Wale, a senior electrical engineer and associate from our San Francisco office. While the past year has given us a newfound appreciation and admiration for all the parents out there who have been juggling home schooling or childcare and work, we found Anjali’s ability to juggle competing priorities particularly amazing!

As the official LGBTQ+ Pride Month comes to a close, we’re reflecting on what ‘Pride’ means to us. Where are we today in our thinking/perspectives? What can we learn from each other? How can we expand and evolve to be better stewards of DEI values? 

During an interview with Derek West, he alluded to a lean leadership tool he's found to be effective and time-efficient. Learning from the contractor world, he sees the value of quickly removing barriers, and if if you can do it in five minutes, seems like a no-brainer!

Derek West has been promoted to Team Leader of Mazzetti Sacramento. Derek has 15 years of experience as a seasoned Project Manager and Senior Electrical Engineer.

Lisa Sombart is a Principal and Team Leader in our St. Louis office. She is also a pioneer, and  not afraid to take risks, tackle new challenges, and take initiative to learn new things – including deciding to be an engineer at a time when women were even more scarce in engineering.
