Mazzetti Nash Lipsey Burch Wins Sustainable Healthcare Award
Jun 01, 2010
Company is only design firm to win four years in a row.
Consulting and engineering firm Mazzetti Nash Lipsey Burch (M+NLB) announced today that it has earned a “Champion for Change” award for the fourth year in row, the only design engineering firm to ever win even once. The award is given annually by Practice Greenhealth and recognizes companies that have made extraordinary efforts to both green their operations and help the health care industry become more sustainable.
“This award is a reflection of M+NLB’s commitment to their clients and their community to protect patient health and preserve the environment,” said Anna Gilmore Hall, Executive Director, Practice Greenhealth. “It is exciting to know that M+NLB is leading this effort and setting an example for other institutions.”
M+NLB has a broad health care design practice across the U.S., including clients such as Kaiser Permanente, Hospital Corporation of America, Sutter Health, Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, and Stanford Hospitals & Clinics.
M+NLB has worked with clients for many years to provide energy-efficient system design, climate change consulting, energy efficiency upgrades and commissioning services. The company has also undertaken internal measures to make their own operations more sustainable at their eight offices around the country.
Walt Vernon, M+NLB CEO, said the work that M+NLB does allows clients to prepare for a new business model where resources are conserved, saving water, energy and money.
“We are entering a world where everyone is interested in reducing their consumption of energy from fossil fuels, their consumption of water, and their generation of waste. The healthcare industry, recently a laggard in the world of green buildings, is quickly moving into a leadership role, consistent with their healing mission. We are very proud of our association with Practice Greenhealth, and winning this award simply inspires us to do more this year,” said Vernon.
