I grew up on a farm near Monticello, Iowa. My father grew up during the Great Depression and developed a tough, minimalist, and highly resourceful mindset. We fixed all of the equipment ourselves and built most of the buildings too. This upbringing taught me a lot about how things work – or don’t work. It showed me the value and rewards of not fighting nature. These experiences eventually led to my joining Mazzetti. I started out in architectural drafting and was drawn to designing water systems. The world of water has endless opportunities. Valuing water as a resource is important to me at home as well as at work; we use shower water for watering trees.
