Mazzetti Welcomes Life Sciences Sector Leader to Bolster Growth

11/29/22

Terry Stelter joins Mazzetti as a Principal to elevate our design and consulting presence in Life Sciences across the country.

Design engineer and business builder, Terry Stelter joins Mazzetti as a Principal to lead the growth of our Life Sciences portfolio across all disciplines. He brings a breadth of industry facility type knowledge, including R&D laboratories, pilot plants, commercial manufacturing, vivaria, and supply chain facilities.

Terry admits his engineering path was somewhat by accident, starting in a Civil and Structural career path in the power industry. After a few years as a design engineer, he pivoted to project and client management, and ultimately, profit center management for a midsize A&E firm. In this role, he successfully led the firm’s entry into the Life Sciences market, providing A&E services to significant players such as Amgen, Baxter, Genentech, Bayer, and Eli Lilly.

Terry’s personal devotion to education and life-learning, particularly as it relates to STEM, aligns well with his professional aspirations.

“As Mazzetti continues to build a reputation for sustainable Healthcare design, application to the Life Sciences market is relevant. As an example, the food tech market is particularly interested in how to produce food while reducing the impact on the environment in the process. This is a great opportunity for Mazzetti to fulfill its mission of bending the climate curve.”

Mazzetti’s Engineering Practice Leader, Jon Inman, shares his perspective, “The Life Sciences sector aligns well with Mazzetti’s focus on promoting societal and environmental health. We’re excited to welcome Terry who will provide strategic vision and leadership to help elevate our presence in this sector.”

“Almost all of this work starts with scientists in a lab at a university. These spaces are typically highly complex with a unique set of needs. As engineers & consultants, we have the opportunity to advance this important research and knowledge. It’s truly rewarding work.”

As with most industries, technological advances will continue to evolve the Life Sciences built environment, particularly the “brain-power” in computers.

“Over the next 5+ years, systems will emulate how diseases act in the body, continuing to significantly change how R&D is accomplished with increasing focus on analytical labs (basically computer labs). It’s important we help position our client’s real estate investments accordingly.”
