EXPERTISE

MEP Engineering

I have 28+ years of experience in the design of mechanical systems for a variety of building types requiring reliability of continuous operation, including research laboratories, data centers, healthcare, educational facilities, government facilities, and office buildings. We have the continuous opportunity (and challenge) to make the world a better place through providing creative and innovative engineering solutions. I thoroughly enjoy examining each project’s engineering parameters to ensure innovative engineering solutions – and, with a little love from Excel, I’m able to develop spreadsheets to calculate required ventilation air, pump head, fan static pressure, pipe sizing, sound attenuation, smoke exhaust, plume dispersion calcs, and more – helping improve the built environment one project at a time.

A skilled communicator and project manager, I enjoy gathering input from key stakeholders to ensure each project’s design represents the owner’s interests and desires. I work collaboratively between owner and design teams, providing specialized solutions that meet the true needs of clients, with the goal of exceeding client expectations. Experience with multiple project deliveries such as design/bid/build and design/build, design assist, and developer driven work, recent projects include: a new $200M mental health facility, the major renovation of the 1M SF Robert A. Young Federal Building (GSA) in downtown St. Louis; multiple renovations for the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGA); and serving as an Owner’s rep for Pfizer on a large laboratory and vivarium project.

My Flipside

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and four mostly grown children, the true joys of my life. Every day I tell my kids to make the world a better place, and hopefully I am doing that one project at a time.

My hobbies include tending to my butterfly garden, running with my dogs, coaching youth sports, playing piano, leading an Equations math club, photography, reading, and stargazing. I’m always working on my honey-do list, but never completely finishing anything.

Born and raised in St. Louis, I enjoy living in the diverse University City neighborhood full of interesting people. My favorite saying about St. Louis is “Don’t like the weather? Just wait a day – it is bound to change.” My theme song is, of course, Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah. Plenty of sunshine headin’ my way.

Go Cardinals!
