Principal, Senior Mechanical Engineer

EXPERTISE

MEP Engineering

I have 22 years of experience designing a wide variety of facility types. I have been involved in multi-discipline engineering design and project management, including HVAC systems, plumbing and piping systems, pollution control exhaust systems, industrial exhaust systems, HEPA filtration systems, thermal storage, cogeneration facilities, and associated mechanical and fire/life safety systems.

Projects I have worked on include both remodel and new construction of Laboratories, Mission Critical N+1 and N+2 Data Centers, Wafer Fabrication Plants, CPU Test Mark/Pack Facilities, clean rooms, industrial facilities, rocket payload processing centers, various OSHPD hospital projects, medical office buildings, central plants, convention centers, vehicle maintenance centers, retail stores, and office buildings.

Among innovations I have contributed to the AEC industry, I helped implement the first displacement ventilation in a California hospital for patient care areas.

While working in China as an engineer, I have also taught construction techniques to Chinese workers not familiar with Western practices.

My Flipside

Outside of work, I enjoy sports (football, baseball), play golf, shoot my camera, and spend time with my wife and stepson. A true Californian, I was born in Castro Valley, consider Dublin my hometown, have lived in San Luis Obispo and Los Angeles, and now live in San Ramon. Along with California, Iā€™ve worked in China (Shanghai and Suzhou), South Korea, Texas, New York, and Montreal.

Why the AEC industry? I began this career in school because I liked math and science. As I considered various career paths, I knew this one would blend math, science, and people engagement. Thus consulting engineering entered my life.
