Challenge

The Bagchi-Parthasarathy Hospital at IISc represents a major effort to integrate clinical care, advanced research, and medical education within one academic setting. The project must support high-acuity patient care while also functioning as a teaching and research institution, all within the constraints of a busy university campus. It is intended to address growing demand for clinical training, advanced research, and accessible, high-quality healthcare.

Solution

The design focuses on creating a highly efficient and future-ready healthcare environment through integrated engineering systems and careful planning. Mazzetti provided MEPF engineering, ELV systems, medical gas systems, and medical equipment planning. The use of a Design and Build approach allowed for close coordination between design and construction, enabling streamlined delivery and alignment with the project’s goals. Systems were designed for reliability and continuous operation to support 24/7 healthcare environments.

Outcome

The hospital is designed as a fully digital, paperless facility, integrating advanced technologies to support clinical workflows and research activities. Sustainability is a key outcome, with energy-efficient systems achieving significant reductions in energy use and supporting a near net-zero, all-electric facility. The project establishes a model for future healthcare infrastructure in India by combining innovation, operational efficiency, and environmental responsibility.
