Legacy Holladay Park Central Lab Relocation
Challenge
Legacy Health operated several lab locations across Portland. The existing lab infrastructure limited efficiency of operations and consolidation of services. Legacy needed a single modern facility to unify lab operations and support advanced diagnostic and pathology workflows.
Solution
Mazzetti designed and engineered a new two-story, 62,000 SF central laboratory facility on a former surface parking lot at Legacy’s Holladay Park campus. The design provided state-of-the-art lab space including workstations with networked data access, walk-in coolers, pathology and forensics labs, emergency showers, and other required lab support spaces.
Outcome
The new facility doubled Legacy’s laboratory capacity while enabling consolidation of multiple legacy lab sites into one. The lab operates with energy performance about 30 percent better than comparable high-performance labs.
