VA Loma Linda Outpatient Clinic

Challenge

VA Loma Linda needed a large outpatient clinic to support half of its outpatient visits. The goal was to improve access, deliver a range of specialty services, and create a therapeutic setting for patients and staff. The project required efficient systems, daylight access, and strong energy performance.

Solution

Mazzetti designed the MEP systems for the new ambulatory care center. The clinic supports 500 employees, 215 exam rooms, and 17 procedure rooms. The design supports dialysis, nephrology, oncology, prosthetics, primary care, dental, mental health, and women’s health. The building uses skylights and full height windows to increase daylight. The site uses drought tolerant landscaping and includes healing gardens, a therapy courtyard, and outdoor seating. The team, including Walsh Construction and ZGF Architects, aligned building systems with the project’s functional and sustainability goals.

Outcome

The clinic now delivers a wide range of outpatient services for the VA Loma Linda Healthcare System. The project improves patient flow, enhances comfort, and reduces environmental impact. The building achieved LEED Silver certification. It supports a large share of the region’s veteran care needs with high reliability and efficient operations.
