Legacy Health Decarbonization Master Plan
Challenge
Legacy Health sought to reduce carbon emissions, improve energy performance, and modernize infrastructure across a diverse portfolio of hospitals and clinical facilities. The health system needed a practical path toward long-term sustainability goals while balancing regulatory requirements, capital planning priorities, operational resilience, and patient care needs across multiple campuses.
Solution
Mazzetti partnered with Legacy Health on a comprehensive portfolio of decarbonization, engineering, and infrastructure initiatives. The team led systemwide decarbonization planning, including greenhouse gas inventories, energy audits, facility assessments, stakeholder engagement, and emissions reduction modeling designed to support a 2050 net-zero roadmap. Mazzetti also provided mechanical engineering and infrastructure services for major projects across the health system, including laboratory, birth center, utility plant, and campus modernization projects, as well as energy efficiency and retro-commissioning initiatives.
Outcome
The partnership established a clear, actionable framework for carbon reduction while supporting critical facility upgrades throughout Legacy Health’s portfolio. By combining strategic planning with implementation-focused engineering, Mazzetti helped Legacy Health advance sustainability goals, improve facility performance, and strengthen the long-term resilience of healthcare campuses across Oregon and Washington.
