Alaska Airlines Lounge North Satellite, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA)

Challenge

As part of the North Satellite modernization at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Alaska Airlines set out to create a flagship lounge that would establish the design and guest experience standard for its future lounges nationwide. Located within one of the airport’s busiest operating environments, the project required the integration of complex mechanical systems while coordinating construction sequencing within an active terminal.

Solution

Mazzetti provided mechanical engineering design for the 15,000 SF Alaska Airlines Lounge in the North Satellite. The team designed HVAC systems, smoke removal ductwork, plumbing infrastructure, and natural gas provisions to support the premium passenger environment. To accommodate the unique requirements of the project, Mazzetti coordinated closely with the base building team to develop construction sequencing that enabled below-floor installation while maintaining ongoing airport operations.

Impact

Opened as Alaska Airlines’ flagship lounge, the space became a cornerstone of the North Satellite expansion and a model for the airline’s evolving brand experience. The lounge offers travelers a comfortable retreat featuring expansive airfield views, abundant natural light, and hospitality-focused amenities that reflect the Pacific Northwest.
