Altru Replacement Hospital
Challenge
Altru Health System faced the need to modernize and expand its healthcare infrastructure to better serve the Grand Forks, ND community. With growing demand across multiple medical specialties and the necessity to incorporate the latest technologies, the challenge was to create a comprehensive facility that could deliver exceptional patient care, streamline clinical operations, and support future growth.
Solution
The response was the design and construction of the Altru Replacement Hospital, a 600,000 square foot, 220-bed, state-of-the-art facility. The project prioritized advanced care environments for departments such as NICU, Obstetrics, and Nursery, as well as specialized services like Respiratory Therapy, Physical and Occupational Therapy, and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Cutting-edge surgical suites, PACU, and SPD were incorporated to optimize procedural efficiency. The hospital’s critical care areas—including the Emergency Department, CCU, and Cath Lab—were designed for rapid response and patient safety. Comprehensive diagnostic capabilities, including CT, Interventional Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, and Radiology, were centralized to ensure seamless, high-quality healthcare delivery.
Outcome
The new Altru Replacement Hospital stands as a transformative addition to the region’s healthcare landscape. It enables the delivery of integrated, patient-centered care across a broad spectrum of specialties, improves operational efficiency, and enhances staff collaboration. With its advanced facilities and technology, the hospital is poised to meet current and future healthcare needs, offering improved outcomes for patients and supporting the community’s well-being.
