Designing systems that work in the real world is at the core of Jim Grimm’s approach. With more than three decades in the industry, he is known for bridging engineering design with construction practicality, bringing solutions to life with a clear understanding of how they perform beyond the drawings.
His experience spans healthcare, commercial, hospitality, multi-family, and higher education environments, as well as complex infrastructure such as central plants and cogeneration systems. Jim brings deep expertise in hydronic systems, controls, and central plant design, along with nearly two decades of design-build experience that strengthens coordination, efficiency, and constructability on every project.
Jim’s work is grounded in a hands-on understanding of how systems are installed and operated. He is particularly energized by the challenge of working through technical details and staying engaged through construction, ensuring systems function as intended. His portfolio includes the design and construction of cogeneration systems for resort properties in Hawaii, where innovative use of waste heat supported cooling, domestic hot water production, and pool heating.
Through his work, Jim contributes to high-performing, efficient building systems that reduce energy waste and support long-term operational reliability. His practical, systems-thinking approach helps clients achieve solutions that are not only technically sound but viable in the field.
