Chris Hanzel,
PE, LEED AP

Chris is known for bringing fast, clear, and construction-minded solutions to complex mechanical engineering challenges. He helps clients keep projects moving by responding quickly, anticipating issues, and delivering designs that work in the field as well as they do on paper. 

Across his career, Chris has tackled a wide range of project types, including healthcare facilities, office campuses, retail environments, industrial sites, generator plants, and battery rooms with hazardous gas concerns. Heavily experienced in remodel work with tight existing conditions early in his career, it has shaped what is feasible in new construction when “anything is possible” on a clean sheet design.  His diverse experience allows him to draw connections across project types and apply lessons learned in creative, practical ways. Whether designing systems for below-grade generator rooms, managing extreme airflow requirements, or coordinating start-up for dozens of interdependent systems, Chris brings a hands-on understanding of how buildings actually operate. 

Clients value his ability to troubleshoot quickly, support construction teams, and maintain momentum toward critical milestones. He contributes to Mazzetti’s Benefit Mission by designing systems that start cleanly and operate as intended.  This starts early in the design by incorporating feedback from Facilities and the end users to make sure their needs are met in a building they have to operate long after design and construction has concluded. He focuses on constructability, access, and controls tuning so facilities teams can hit energy and reliability goals from day one, not months after occupancy. Outside of his project work, Chris continues to build his technical range and maintains a constant #AlwaysLearning mindset.
