Mazzetti provided civil engineering for the award-winning design and construction of the UO’s 40,895 sf Allan Price Science Commons and Research Library remodel and expansion. The existing 38,000 sf underground library was expanded with a 4,000 sf above ground addition incorporating a plaza-level entrance with a social common cafe and event space. Mazzetti’s civil engineering design included demolition and replacement of the existing storm drain system in keeping with jurisdictional requirements and LEED goals. The building had experienced long-term leakage problems and the new sustainable storm drain system needed to remedy the leakage without full replacement of the topping slab structure.
