A Professional Engineer with over 25 years’ experience in project management, sustainable design, electrical engineering and architectural lighting design, I combine my technical knowledge and managerial skills to deliver integrated, quality solutions for a diverse portfolio of projects, including: higher education, healthcare, corporate, civic, commercial, and critical mission facilities.
As an Associate Principal, I incorporate Mazzetti’s core values of integrity, strategic thinking, planning and organization to foster a collaborative and results-focused design process, centered on client success. I work directly with architects, owners, and contractors to achieve effective, timely, and economical outcomes.
A LEED AP BD+C Accredited Professional, I am keenly aware of sustainable design strategies and their impact on energy, the environment, and human health. My projects have achieved LEED Platinum and Gold status; I have presented to national organizations such as ASHRAE and NSPE on the impact of LEED, Lighting Design and electrical engineering practices.
Formally trained in architecture and lighting design, I value the integrity of the architecture and the role that lighting plays in the project’s success. Lighting solutions are environmentally, physiologically, and technologically driven. My passion for lighting is expressed by my depth of knowledge, a successful portfolio of lighting projects, and my commitment to advancing the art and science of lighting through education and participation in the Illuminating Engineering Society and International Association of Lighting Designers.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wonderful wife and three sons, doing things as a family. When we get free time (which isn’t often), I enjoy concerts, musicals, and walks.
Born and raised in St. Louis, I grew up in a neighborhood where I could walk to the City’s world-class zoo, art museum, and science center, all within sight of Eero Saarinen’s Arch. I was inspired by this exposure, and that wonderful things start with regular people working together. I’m still inspired by it.
If I could change the world, how would I? The question is not if I could change the world, it’s how I’m changing the world… And it’s really with small acts that add up to big impacts so we can live more inclusive, healthier lives.
We work hard to advance sustainable practices through education and design practices; that’s what we do as design professionals. As a family, we embrace sustainability by recycling, carpooling, keeping the thermostat at 66 degrees in the winter (and wearing sweaters), using water bottles, and by following the Boy Scouts of America motto “no trace left behind.”
