Daily, I have the opportunity to either develop or better communities (for a living!).
I get to see designs come to life and improve the people and environment for which they serve. I feel blessed.
For almost 35 years, I’ve been crafting my civil engineering expertise across a variety of sectors including education, commercial, laboratories, healthcare, and various governmental facilities.
Prior to BHEGroup merging with Mazzetti, I served as the President of BHEGroup. I built the Civil Engineering discipline, beginning in 1994, based on core values of accountability, development of expertise, and delivering excellence in product and client service through teamwork. Elated to bring this expertise to Mazzetti clients.
In this industry, we are no stranger to tight deadlines and sporadic “surprises”. I recall a particularly challenging and satisfying project infused with several challenges – stringent land use process, right-of-way vacation, site development construction drawings, and public sewer relocation, all of which, needed to be completed, submitted, approved, and permitted within a 3.5-month window. Leading the team of consultants, we navigated the tight timeline with optimal integrated collaboration, while weathering a “surprise” departure of the owner’s Project Manager, essentially fulfilling this role too. Upon our timely completion, both the developer and the owner, admittedly somewhat surprised by our success, were immensely grateful we ensured construction commencement and building occupancy per the requested schedule. We made it happen!
Fun fact: I’m proud to say I was part of the design team for the the first LEED Platinum building on the University of Oregon campus and one of the only laboratory buildings in the country to receive such a certification at that time.
