I have more than 18 years of experience designing, laboratory, healthcare, pharmaceutical and high purity manufacturing, and commercial facilities from the schematic design phase through complete construction. My specialties include field investigation and coordination, pre-design analysis, conceptual design, layout, load analysis, generating P&IDs, writing specifications, and submittal and RFI review.

This engineering knowledge, combined with my project management expertise, ensures the highest quality results for every client project serviced by my team.

My Flipside

I always have a project or two in progress at home. I like to create useful things in my woodshop, and am currently working on improving the design of a solar window box heater my father and I built 25 years ago for a science fair project. I was born and raised in Portland, Maine where I lived until I went to college. I then lived in Boston for 12 years before moving to Sacramento, and finally settled in Albany, California. I have worked all over the east and west coasts. My favorite places to work are Boston in the spring time, and the San Francisco Bay Area.

I would like to work towards ending homelessness. I have worked on this in various volunteering roles over the past 20 years, and feel that ending homelessness is an achievable goal in our lifetime.

I have always loved to design and build things.  I find it enormously gratifying to see a project completed from early conceptual planning stages through occupancy. I started out working for my father’s small heating business when I was 13 helping out and the systems and controls fascinated me.

My father taught me many design concepts over my formative years and my love for engineering grew from that. The AEC industry was a logical progression.

I have embraced sustainable lifestyle choices at home constantly attempting to reduce my family’s carbon footprint. I am constantly lecturing my family about wasting water and electricity to the point that they now lecture others when they see someone wasting our resources. I have encouraged my friends and family to do the same, frequently suggesting projects ranging from simple to very complex to reduce their carbon footprint. We raised chickens in our backyard for eggs and fertilizer for our garden. We use only LED lights and our furnace operates on a schedule to reduce energy usage. We have energy efficient appliances and fixtures to minimize the waste of water and energy. I am building a solar window box heater to further reduce our use of natural gas. I have helped my brother install thermal solar heater and a rainwater catchment system for irrigation of his lawn.
