Three new employees in San Francisco office broadens design resources for clients
(San Francisco, CA)— In an effort to invest in the ongoing evolution of Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology and project management, Mazzetti & Associates announces the recent additions of Michael Duran, Stephen Mucelli, and Kurt Messerli to their San Francisco headquarters.
BIM allows engineers, architects, and others to model the entire life cycle of a building from construction to facility operation. This allows for improvements to be made during the design and construction phase by modeling representations of the actual parts and pieces being used to build a building. This is a substantial improvement from the traditional computer-aided design (CAD) method of drawing plans.
Michael Duran joins Mazzetti from Skidmore, Owings, & Merrill in San Francisco where he served as a Digital Design Coordinator. He brings over 15 years of digital design, environmental, and sustainable-building performance analysis experience to his new role as BIM Technology Manager.
Stephen Mucelli joins the firm from a pulmonary delivery system technology-manufacturing center, where he served as a Quality Assurance Mechanical Drafter. Stephen brings over 25 years of drafting and digital design experience to his new role as BIM/CAD Technology Administrator.
“With the evolution of BIM and a world requiring direct digital exchange, our experts have the skill set to provide the latest in BIM project delivery,” says Jon Inman, a principal at Mazzetti’s San Francisco office. “Michael and Stephen are skilled in the latest modeling software, such as Autodesk®’s Revit MEP, fabrication software like TSI®’s CAD-MEP, and coordination-planning software Navisworks.”
With over 20 years of construction management experience and a Green Belt in Six Sigma Lean Certification, Kurt Messerli joins Mazzetti as Associate Principal with a primary focus on project management for the firm.
“Kurt brings excellent leadership and combined knowledge of construction management and practical design services to our firm,” said Walt Vernon, President and a principal at Mazzetti’s San Francisco office. “Kurt’s unique blend of knowledge and business skills gives us greater ability to sustain the high-quality work our clients know and expect.”
With the addition of recent design and operational savings projects like Palo Alto Medical Foundation’s new San Carlos, California campus, an Office of Statewide Health Planning & Development (OSHPD) Lean Pilot Project; the New Stanford Hospital, a new 1.1-million square foot replacement hospital on the Stanford University Medical Center campus; and the Southern California Edison Healthcare Energy Efficiency Program; the addition of Duran, Mucelli, and Messerli further exemplify and substantiate Mazzetti’s growing expertise in the industry.
Founded in 1962, Mazzetti is a full-service mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and technology consulting and design firm, with offices in San Francisco, Irvine, and Sacramento, California and Portland, Oregon. The firm serves the healthcare, mission critical, and science and technology, and higher education sectors. Mazzetti was one of the first engineering firms in the U.S. to add a climate consulting practice to their list of client services, offering advice on measuring, reducing and monetizing client greenhouse gas emissions.
