Banner Health System, New Tier III Data Center

M+NLB designed a new, Tier III, two-story 65,000sf data center facility with data processing “Pods” on the second floor and electrical distribution equipment on the first floor. The data processing pods comprise approximately 15,000sf of raised floor and 25,000sf of infrastructure space. The project included a new central plant developed to support both the data center and a 300,000sf administrative office. The design includes water side economizers as well as variable speed drives on both chilled and condenser water pumps. This project is an example of the emerging trend in digital healthcare. The design and documentation were completed using state-of-the-art 3-dimensional BIM modeling software that integrates the mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural components, and allowed for early cost modeling and clash detection.
