Kadlec Regional Medical Center, Surgery Expansion & Patient Tower Addition, Richland, WA

Mazzetti Nash Lipsey Burch (M+NLB) provided the MEP and telecommunications design for the new six floor patient tower, with expansion capabilities to ten floors. The project includes new private medical/surgical beds, a pediatric unit, bariatric rooms and shell space.
The surgery addition includes twelve new OR suites, PACU and Central Sterile, and a day surgery area on the first floor. The surgery expansion is outfitted with integrated surgical booms with real time video and PACS capability. State of the art wiring is provided in all private patient rooms for future flexibility in computerized charting. To facilitate future infrastructure additions perhaps not developed yet, M+NLB designed a vertical chase with racking on three sides near the building core. The chase spans all six floors and will be extended through ten floors once the upper floors are built. The new main communications room serves as the primary server room for the Kadlec Medical Center campus.
M+NLB designed a large communications vault connected into the campus underground facilities pathway. In addition to numerous conduits into the tower, high-capacity, multi-cell flexible innerducts were installed in the conduits themselves, greatly increasing the number of pathways available. All Category 6 cables are terminated onto modular patch panels, allowing any outlet in the building to be used for voice or data applications The facility can easily “plug-and-play” depending upon the needs of a space and without the cost of a technician or the need to wait for a technician to be scheduled.
