This facility serves veterans in the greater Sacramento area who previously had to travel to Martinez or Travis Air Force Base for their healthcare needs. Phase I consisted of a new $48M, 170,000sf hospital that provides veterans with local access to surgery, mental health, and outpatient services. The facility includes space for 45 inpatient beds and 10 mental health beds, as well as the research and laboratory departments. In addition, the site's 30,000sf central plant and utility systems were completely updated and expanded. Phase II renovated the existing 130,000sf ambulatory care center. This $15M project accommodates modernization of nuclear medicine, clinical lab, and pharmacy, as well as clean and sterile supply departments, and upgraded the electrical system within the building. Renovations included patient waiting expansion, seismic bracing, asbestos abatement, and fire and life-safety upgrades. M+NLB provided electrical engineering services for this project.
