Mazzetti Nash Lipsey Burch has designed this $22M, 45,000sf new classroom building which includes a dental school, nursing school, and microbiology lab.
The building is the first in a series of six for a new campus. The project includes central vacuum and air systems for medical teaching labs, dental vacuum and air systems for dental training stations, and propane backup system. Responsibilities included mechanical and plumbing design and construction administration services.
Sustainable design features include: high efficiency glazing, demand control ventilation with CO2 sensors in high-occupancy spaces, occupancy sensors linked to HVAC controls to reduce airflow during unoccupied times, variable speed motors on building HVAC systems and heating water pumps, and rainwater collection and diversion to new vegetated swales.
