Mazzetti Nash Lipsey Burch (M+NLB) provided mechanical, electrical, and energy design services for this 42,000sf laboratory facility. One of the University’s goals was for this laboratory to be an environmentally responsible building. M+NLB responded to this by designing mechanical, electrical, and energy-efficient systems to offer tremendous energy savings, estimated to be $57,000 per year. The facility was designed to be 50% more efficient than Oregon’s energy code; reducing annual energy bill by $51K annually.

The building, which houses the Chemistry and Biology departments, includes nine teaching labs, three research labs, three greenhouses, two environmental growth rooms, computer lab room, live animal room, and ten faculty offices. The project also included a renovation of the existing 40,000sf engineering building and 16,000sf science hall.
