




Waccamaw Community Hospital, New Hospital, Murrells Inlet, SC

This new $34M, 188,000sf full service hospital includes three floors. The full service hospital includes 68 beds, four OR’s, PACU, ER, ICU, step down unit, dialysis, lab, physical therapy, kitchen, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, x-ray, R&F, and special procedures equipment. The Waccamaw Same Day Surgery Center is connected to the main building of the hospital. The second floor includes the Women’s Hospital, with LDRP rooms, C-section and newborn nursery. The third floor houses Waccamaw Rehabilitation Center, providing acute rehabilitation services in an inpatient setting. Physical, occupational and speech therapy are offered.
Mazzetti Nash Lipsey Burch designed the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and telecommunications systems for the facility and adjacent Medical Office Building. The central plant includes clinical air compressors, clinical vacuum pumps, medical gas park, two 200 hp boilers, two 450 ton chillers, two cooling towers, and associated pumps and accessories. Major electrical equipment includes 4000 amp 480 volt main switchboard, two 450 kW standby generator sets with a parallel bus and synchronizing controls, and 10 automatic transfer switches.
