Lynchburg General Hospital is a 270-bed, regional emergency and critical care center specializing in cardiology, emergency medicine, orthopedics, neurology, and neurosurgery. This $49M project includes a new five-story, 108-bed patient tower addition, conference center, new front entrance, and a new Dietary department. The 140,000sf expansion includes oncology, surgical, neurology and orthopedic in-patient services. Each patient room is wired for state-of-the-art, patient monitoring equipment and future moves toward digital, computerized environments, such as electronic patient records.

Renovation of 65,000sf includes laboratory, physical therapy/occupational therapy, Materials Management, and other ancillary spaces. The associated central plant expansion consists of a new 1800 HP boiler plant, an 800-ton chiller plant expansion, a new 5MW generator plant with paralleling gear, and new medium-voltage gear lineup and distribution. The design included analysis of five separate locations for relocation and expansion of the central plant (chilled water, steam, electrical distribution, and generator) to prepare for future campus growth.
