UNM has designed a new 400,000sf Women’s and Children’s hospital on its campus. UNM hired Mazzetti Nash Lipsey Burch (M+NLB) to review its project and to work with its design team to explore the possibilities of incorporating green solutions. M+NLB assembled a team of experts from a number of fields and coordinated the effort in late 2002. The new emergency center included areas for pediatrics, fast track, observation, and trauma. The expansion also included dedicated imaging space for MRI, CT, and other imaging equipment.
The critical care pavilion included adult neurology, medical, surgical and trauma/burn ICUs, as well as a full complement of pediatrics and women’s services including a pediatric surgery unit, OB triage, labor and delivery, postpartum, and neonatal intensive care units. M+NLB managed the architecturally significant equipment procurement and placement for the project. Our team also facilitated product selections and confirmed reuse and capital-funded equipment to utilize limited state funds. The hospital was built and completed in 2007.
