Mazzetti Nash Lipsey Burch (M+NLB) designed the MEP systems for this 103,500sf, full-service community hospital serving Arizona and Nevada. The new hospital includes 60 private inpatient beds, Women’s Center, Intensive Care, Imaging, Emergency, Surgery, physical and occupational therapy, and inpatient rehabilitation. Special care was required for this project due to the multiple local and state code requirements for institutional construction in Arizona—both the Uniform Building Code and the International Building Code are in effect in the state. M+NLB designed systems to minimize the costs associated with the strict code requirements; and worked with the architect to design and locate special air intakes to minimize the damage of wind and sand during sandstorms in the desert area.
