Mazzetti Nash Lipsey Burch is providing sustainable consulting and MEP design services for this new $1.3B, 1.12Msf hospital, emergency generator plant, and 1000-car underground parking garage. The framework and development of the new hospital must anticipate future expansions of the Medical Center and reflect the flexibility to accommodate and adapt to continuous technological advancements and evolving interdisciplinary conditions in healthcare.
The hospital is designed as an horizontally organized, modular medical center to meet flexibility needs while allowing for future expansion. The final result will include 459 additional all-private patient rooms, thirty-two state-of-the-art, flexible Surgical & Interventional ORs, a 48,000sf Imaging Department, a 48,000sf Emergency Department, as well as a conference, cafeteria, and support spaces.
Stanford University Medical Center is aiming to achieve several sustainability goals relating to the New Medical Center; these include at least a LEED Silver rating, energy and water efficiency, day-lighting, solar technologies, and greenhouse gas emissions reduction.
