So, without further ado, let’s meet our first featured engineer, Austin Barolin, PE, CEM, LEED AP O&M.

As a Benefit Corporation, we are accountable to driving a public benefit to better society and our physical environment. As a Benefit Corporation, our public benefit should equate to our overall mission. At the end of last year, we resolved this disconnect. We (Mazzetti) have a long-standing reputation for designing high-performing, highly sustainable healthcare facilities across the country. However, many people may not be fully aware of our similar work in  Aviation.

The impact of one person avoiding single-use plastics for one day seems minor, but the impact of 200 people trying to avoid single-use plastics for a whole year makes a bigger splash. The impact of 200 people talking to their families, friends, and neighbors about avoiding single-use plastics creates some ripples. We know the power of the herd mentality, and we know behavior influences the way we think.

We are helping to improve the quality of life for these communities and providing resilient energy sources (in the event of future natural disasters). These schools can be used as places of refuge so ensuring that they have electricity will be a huge benefit and could save lives.

Seth Francis, EIT, LEED Green Associate, Mechanical Designer with Mazzetti, global MEP and Technology Consulting firm, has earned the WELL Accredited Professional credential through the International WELL Building Institute.

Mazzetti and our Sextant Foundation are quickly organizing volunteers to join the response effort in Puerto Rico, post Hurricane Maria. Through our partnerships with the Department of Health and Project HOPE, our volunteers will specifically assess Puerto Rico’s water purification systems along the north and west sides of the island.

Mazzetti believes that investing in women yields a host of positive effects on business and sustained economic growth. Therefore, as a company we are giving special interests to grow our knowledge and concerns to bring out the best.
