Principal - Mechanical, Team Leader

As Portland office team leader, my over 25 years of experience has focused mainly on the project delivery of healthcare, educational, and science and technology facilities. I excel most at—and truly enjoy—collaborating with owners, especially facilities staff, helping them find solutions that last well into the future. My expertise encompasses master planning for major hospital renovations, designing acute care hospitals, and leading award-winning, sustainable design projects.

What I really enjoy about my job is that every day is different. Every project is a prototype. I’m still learning.

I have worked throughout the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, and Indiana, as well as Guam and Nigeria. I have lent my expertise as a technical editor for Plumbing Systems & Design magazine, and currently serve as Mazzetti’s Chairman of the Board.

My Flipside

When I’m not in the office, I enjoy spending my free time with my wife and two daughters. A favorite past time during the summer months is boating (wakesurfing!) with family and friends, along with restoring my 1969 Ford F250 truck that I inherited from my father (that’s it at right). Other than my college years spent at Montana State University in Bozeman, I have lived in my hometown of Portland, OR.

Why the AEC industry? What I really enjoy about my job is that every day is different. Every project is a prototype. I’m still learning. My home also benefits from my never-ending interest in what I do at work every day. To be more energy conscious, I installed an instantaneous condensing hot water heater—which provides much better efficiency (and made my gas bill go down by 30%!). I also intend to install photovoltaic panels on my roof, but for now, let’s just say that project is still in the conceptual phase.
